Ce blog a pour but de partager une expérience de rénovation d'un RRC 1992 (2 portes, moteur VM 2.5l )
Je parle bien de rénovation et en aucun cas de transformation. Donc pas de modification majeure, mais une démarche visant à remettre en état un Range vieillissant.
De nombreuses pièces n'étant plus disponibles, il va falloir faire preuve d'imagination mais l'idée générale sera toujours de conserver "l'esprit" du Range à défaut de restaurer exactement à l'identique.
Il est utile de préciser aussi que mes moyens sont (très) limités. A la fois en terme de ressources que de savoir faire. Côté ressources, je ne dispose même pas d'un garage. Le Range dort sur un parking ouvert et je ne dispose que d'une petite pièce dans laquelle je peux "bricoler", mais on est aux antipodes d'un environnement de mécanicien avec de la place, éventuellement une fosse, un palan, des outils, etc... Côté savoir-faire, je ne suis pas mécanicien, ni électricien, ni capitonneur, ni menuisier, etc, etc. C'est bien dommage d'ailleurs car une compétence dans au moins l'un de ces métiers m'aiderait sûrement beaucoup.
En même temps, c'est justement à cause de cette faiblesse de moyens matériels et de la modestie de mes compétences qu'il me paraît intéressant de partager cette aventure, car au final, c'en est bien une...

Purpose of this blog
This blog aims to share a renovation experience of a 1992 RRC (2 doors, engine VM 2,5l).
I'm talking of renovation and in no case of transformation. So no major change, just an approach to restore an aging RRC.
Many parts are not longer available, so imagination will be mandatory, but the general idea will always be to keep "the spirit" of the Range Rover Classic failing to restore exactly as brand new.
I have to specify that my means and skills are (very) limited. Both in terms of resources and know-how. I do not even have a garage. This RRC is parked in an open car park and I only have a small room in which I can "tinker", but I'm far from a professional mechanical environment with room, specific tools, possibly a pit, a hoist, etc...
On the know-how side, I'm neither a mechanic, nor an electrician, nor a paddler, nor a carpenter. And it's indeed a pity because a skill in at least one of these trades with no doubt would help me a lot.
Meanwhile, it's precisely because of this weakness of material means and the poverty of my competences that it seems interesting to me to share this adventure, because in the end, that's what it is.
